PROFILE

Name: Jennifer Duong
Penname: bw-inc
D.O.B.: July 31st, 1985
Gender: Female
Location: Nanaimo, B.C.

About me:
I currently reside in a small city on Vancouver Island called Nanaimo. I pursued my design diploma at Malaspina University (now called VI University) and continued onward by heading toward the opposite end of the country to Halifax. From there I earned my degree in Communication Design (honors) at NSCAD. After finishing school I moved back home to Nanaimo and currently work as production at a small office putting together business publications. Eventually I would like to leave Nanaimo as opportunities for design here are very limited. I just haven't decided where to go yet~! I am willing to go wherever the job will take me.

Aside from design, I also enjoy illustrating. I have been illustrating since I was really young, but didn't really gain a love for it until I was in college where I started using it more in my work. I'am self taught and I found that my illustrating skills became extremely handy in my design projects, which then helped me develop a personal style. I know many designers wouldn't agree with that, but I do believe designers make certain visual decisions to make their work, theirs. It's a matter of how one chooses where and when to use it.

Since I do have a love for illustrating, my design works tends to be just as bold and bright as my illustrations. I like dynamic design, bright dramatic contrasting colors as well as simplicity and form. My favorite type of design work to do are web layouts, editorial, print design and packaging. Ultimately I would love to use both of my skills in the work field.

Freelance work

I can do design and/or illustration freelance work, however, due to my full time job responsibilities I'm not always available to do work... but feel free to propose a project to me. Projects are charged by the hour and will vary depending on complexity and type of project.

Not interested in doing any collaboration work at this time.
